I was looking at a TV show and there was a lady a who striving to be a rapper. From what I can the see the young lady is very determined to reach her goal. The odds are stacked against her for various reasons but she continues to push ahead anyway. It reminds me of my own situation. I have been striving to be a professional music producer. Even though I've been in some good positions and seen a lot of things I haven't gotten over that hump. Hopefully one day I will achieve my dream.

My kicks
When I was young my I fell in love with shoes. I can't tell you the age or time this happened but when it did I fell hard. My parents couldn't afford the high priced sneakers when I was young and I vowed that when I was older I'd get the sneakers I always wanted and that's what I do now that I'm an adult. I find myself looking down at everyone's feet as they approach me or pass by to see what kicks they're wearing. It not just any shoe that look for it's the rare Nikes or Jordans that are hard to find or obtain. I also like looking for other rare sneakers like Reebok shaq attaq or the Big Sean's Adidas. The problem is I'm getting older and I feel like it's time to let this phase of my life go. It can get very expensive. But I cant beat the urge of having the latest and hottest sneaker. Maybe one day I'll let go of my hobby (and obsession) of collecting kicks.

Determined
When I went to Seark college my classes were pretty easy. It didn't require a lot of my time and I didn't have to dedicate myself to my studies much at all to get good grades. I could devote my time to music and the studio which is my passion. Since I've been at UAPB it's been totally different. I have to study all the time and do homework if I want to keep up. I don't know what my grades will look like at this and last semester my GPA dropped significantly. But what I do know is my passion isn't paying the bills like I envisioned so I have to go with plan b: Obtaining my bachelor degree from UAPB. If I work hard I should have my degree within a year.

Gotta finish
This week and last students have been receiving refunds from financial aid. When some students get their refunds they leave and never return to class. They don't realize that they're leaving without the most important: their education. Some students come for a small check that will not provide any individual with a career or job. My plan was to come to UAPB and get a bacholar degree and I will continue until I succeed.

Stem
This morning I went to the stem meeting held on campus. There was a rep from UAMS giving out information on the school, degree programs, and telling the stem group about what they offer. Even though I don't think any of the info applied to me, it is an opportunity. While I sat there I thought about the some opportunities that are available to me and others as well. I'm thankful the position I'm in and will continue show my appreciation by progressing on.

Lunch
Today I was weird day. My lunch today messed up my stomach bad. And it happened in the middle of nowhere. I felt like Craig's father on the Friday movie. It was very long and suspenseful drive home. I didn't think I was gonna to my home in time but I made it. No more Pizza Hut for me for a while.

My new motif
Today was a easy day. I only had one class and afterwards I went to the studio to work. I was excited to get back to the studio because I got some new equipment. I just got another keyboard. It's a Yamaha motif es7. This is not my first motif though. I bought the first motif years back. But the last one I purchased was the motif xs6. I think the es7 was modded and has a internal hard drive. I love the sounds all the motifs have though. The es7 was very dusty. By the time I finished cleaning my first clients of the day were coming in. I look forward to years of working with this keyboard.

NSBE Meeting
Today was the NSBE meet and greet. I didn't expect to see that many students there but it was a great experience. The president introduced herself and ask each person to do the same. When it was my turn I gave a brief introduction of myself. In the intro she asked what my goals are after college. I stated that I was undecided on what I wanted to do. After everyone introduced themselves she told us when being interviewed by employers you need to know or be able to tell employers what your plans or goals are after graduation and that the NSBE would help me with this issue and other issues I may have when starting a career. I'm glad I made the decision to attend the meeting to become a member of the NSBE.

The Studio
In the studio chilling. I use to come in here for the money. But now I come in here for the passion. My grandad told me "do what you love and don't think about the money because it will come if you're dedicated. I've learned to use the studio as a therapeutic place when I'm going through something or want to be alone. So when I finish my classwork, this is where I reside....the studio.

Tuesday Entry
Hello everyone, today my daughter came home and asked me to help her with her math homework. I agreed to help her. So we sat down and I looked over what she was assigned and noticed it was multiplying fractions. Only one problem: I don't remember what to do!!!! So I played it off and told her to start the first problem. Once I saw her work the problem it hit me: she was doing it wrong. So I went to the examples in her book and figured everything out so I could explain it to her. When she told me she was finished I checked her work to make sure the answers were correct and they were. It made me feel good as a parent to know that I was there for her and I could see the immediate impact my presence made.
